It is the Patrick Henry rotary press design from the Liberty Issue. The definitive regular issues were printed first wet and reprinted later using a dry process. Generally, the wet prints have a duller appearance and thinner paper. The stamps are both described as purple, but the color differences are well known. The higher value stamps met no specific postal rate but were used as utility denominations on parcels and special services. For example, solo use could be obtained with a double rate international Air Mail letter to Asia plus Registry fee. Used multiples are commonly found on bank tags. At TBR Stamps we use stock images.
