Africa Gets A New Bishop From America - Roman Catholics in the Accra Diocese of the Gold Coast, the British African Colony that is moving rapidly toward self-government, have just received a new Bishop from the United States - the Rt.Reverend Joseph Bowers. Born in Dominica, British West Indies, the 43-year-old Bishop entered a seminary in the United States at the age of 18, joined the Society of the Divine Word in 1939 and was ordained after a year of special study in Rome.
