Description
Description This is a current model Yamaha SA-2200 from the popular SA series of Japan Vintage semi-hollow guitars, made in 2016. The guitar shows some signs of use as it has been played for a considerable amount of time. Upon close inspection, there are fine scratches, pick marks, tarnishing on the gold-plated parts, and slight impressions on the frets due to pressing, but the previous owner seems to have taken good care of it, as the guitar is quite clean for a used instrument of its age, as shown in the detailed images. The combination of gold hardware, the beautiful flame maple body, and the rich, dark ebony fretboard with block inlays all contribute to the sophisticated, high-end feel of this guitar. Specifications, Condition, and Setup Details Top Material : The top is made of maple and sycamore plywood, with the beautiful grain on the front being sycamore. The pickguard shows some pick marks, indicating that it has been played a fair amount. There are minor scratches and scuffs on the paint that are only noticeable upon close inspection, but they’re not visible in the images. Gold Hardware : The gold-plated parts show some tarnishing in places, but overall, the condition is quite good for a used guitar. The bridge is made by GOTOH, and the saddles for the 5th and 6th strings have been slightly adjusted for string height balance. Pickups : The guitar features Yamaha's original pickups. Unlike Gibson’s semi-hollow guitars, which suspend the pickups with two mounting points, Yamaha’s design suspends them with three points, allowing for fine adjustments to the pickup angle. Bi-Sound System : This model comes equipped with Yamaha’s Bi-Sound system. The tone knob is a push-pull switch, and when pulled, it activates a single-coil sound. Body Back Material : The back of the body is made from the same material as the top, with beautiful grain. Sycamore is a type of wood similar to maple in terms of material properties. Though somewhat rare in guitar construction, it has been used in Japanese-made guitars for many years and is even known for its use in fine violins like the Stradivarius. Body Sides : The body sides are made from birch plywood combined with sycamore. Birch, known as a type of alder in Japanese wood classification, has a texture similar to maple and an appearance close to cherry. While this is not commonly seen in other guitar brands, Yamaha has a long history of using unique materials in their guitars, and birch has been used in the SA series for many years. Neck Material : The neck is made from mahogany, with a smooth ebony fretboard that has a nice shine. The frets are medium-jumbo, and the inlays are likely mother-of-pearl, although this is not explicitly mentioned in the catalog. The truss rod has plenty of adjustment left. Frets and Condition : The frets have been polished to a mirror finish. There are slight indentations from pressing on the frets, especially on the plain string side in the lower positions, but they are not visible in the photos. Headstock : There are some light scratches on the headstock's surface, likely from string changes, along with some tarnishing on the gold-plated parts. However, these signs of use are minor and the headstock remains in relatively good condition. Hard Case : The guitar originally came with a separate, sold-separately hard case, which is now discontinued. Strings and Setup : The guitar is currently strung with D'Addario EXL110 (10-46) strings in regular tuning. The string height has been adjusted to 1.3mm at the 1st string (12th fret) and 1.9mm at the 6th string. About Us If you have any problem, please contact us. Your satisfaction is important to us.
