I purchase this from a tapestry collector, they had matching tapestries of this Chantilly!~ To view the others just search my store for the word Chantilly ~ This tapestry was made in France by Manufacture Robert Four, Paris–Aubusson, and is titled “Verdure Chantilly.” The original label remains intact on the reverse. According to the manufacturer’s tag, this piece is a faithful reproduction of an 18th century tapestry, produced using a serigraph printing process applied deep into the wool fibers, following traditional old style techniques. It is clearly marked Made in France and numbered Work no. 1475 Robert Four was known for producing high quality decorative wall tapestries during the mid 20th century, drawing directly from historic French designs while using durable weaving and printing methods intended for interior display. These tapestries were made to bring the beauty of classical French landscapes into everyday homes rather than serving as upholstery or floor coverings. The color palette is wonderfully soft and easy to live with, featuring muted greens, gentle blues, warm golden tones, and subtle floral accents.
