Welcome to The Textile Trunk ~ please follow us on ! We are ~ A very early fabric, hand woven sometime around 1900~The stripes are stunning ! This bolt was made to create hand towels, the intersecting stripe running the width was where the fabric would be cut the space in between the stripes is about 19 inches ~ ~ ~~*~ This bolt feels and smells just great! Nubby and floppy ~ This bolt is ideal for window treatments, table runners, pillows, upholstery etc! ~ Wonderfully high quality. I love knowing these linens were grown without the use of pesticides, just lovely natural fabric. It took the average weaver an entire night to weave only 21 inches! The time invested in this fabric is simply mind boggling and that is after they grew the fibers , retted them, spun them, died the stripe threads and THEN woven them. These are treasures beyond belief ~*~ ~ ~*~ *~ This wonderful textile was originally woven for grain sacks in rural French homes, where sturdy cotton and hemp fabrics were made to withstand years of heavy use. This length is the unused portion that was never stitched into a sack — it would have been carefully tucked away in a dowry chest, saved for future household needs. Textiles like this were treasured and used thoughtfully, and today they’re ideal for ecofriendly living, offering a sustainable way to bring authentic vintage character into the home while reusing materials that were made to last. MEASUREMENTS : This bolt measures 7.5 yards long by 21.5 inches wide ~~ CONDITION : I've freshly laundered this bolt and it's ready to use ~ there are some pale discolorations a pale yellowing in a couple of places, there are some pale storage marks ~ Light signs of time and use often inherent in these wonderful bolts ~ any and all condition is reflected in the price ~ Inventory : EL 888
