This knife for auction is a 2000 issue Case 111 Shield Red Pocket Worn Copperlock, 4 1/4" closed, featuring Case's "Corncob" Jigged Pocket Worn finished Old Red Bone (cattle bone) handle s and the nickel silver Case 111 shield . If you don't know what I am referring to about the Case 111 shield, here's the story: this unique Case 111 shield was placed into the frames of a very few of the standard production Case knives in 2000. The knives with this Case 111 shield were SECRETLY inserted in random standard Case factory boxes and shipped out from the Case factory. It was near impossible to get any knife with this Case 111 shield as for instance with this Case Copperlock pattern: Beginning in 2000, this Case Red Pocket Worn Copperlock was built in a quantity of 100 pieces with this 111 shield. Then in 2001 the Case Amber Bone Copperlock was built in a quantity of 100 pieces with a 112 shield - because 2001 marked the 112th year of the Case trademark in manufacturing cutlery. The significance of the number 111 is that Case began manufacturing knives in 1889 and the year 2000 marked the 111th year of the beginnings of the Case trademark in manufacturing cutlery.
