It does power on. When there was a data tape inside, we were able to use the picker to move the tape to and from all 4 tape drives, and to and from the I/O station. We were able to remove and reinsert all 4 magazines. All of the control buttons worked for us. When we plugged an ethernet cable into the port on the back of the unit, lights illuminated on the port(see pics.) After testing, data tape was removed - no data tapes are included. The firmware has been updated on all 4 drives This item belonged to a client of ours. We were unable to fully test it due to lack of technical expertise. For this reason, this is being sold AS IS, no guarantees, no returns Please see all photos - you will receive everything pictured, and nothing in addition No data tapes are included Power cord and ethernet cable included Our company sells a lot of equipment that is 5 years old or more - this equipment is very useful for some people but not useful at all for others due to lack of support/updates from the manufacturer.
