Description
The Unmarked Caboose No. 6167 was available in 1963 and 1964 and was manufactured in various shades of plastic. Issued as a component of various starter sets during these years, they would also be offered in numerous uncataloged sets. These cars are difficult to catalog because the boxes are non-existant, however, attempts have been made to catalog these by their mold number. Some of the RED cabooses use mold 6059-2 while some of the YELLOW ones use mold 6167-52. The most collectable car of this type is the D Variation that uses a Die 4 body. All of these came with either AAR or arch-bar trucks and there are five known variants of this unmarked caboose: Variation A: Unpainted RED body whose chassis does not have handrails and has one solid coupler. Listed in the Lionel Service Manual and Cataloged as 6167-25. Variation B: Cataloged as 6167-125 in the Lionel Service Manual with one operating disc coupler and one solid coupler and has a RED body. Variation C: Unpainted YELLOW body that has one solid coupler. Listed in the Lionel Service Manual and Cataloged as 6167-50. Variation D: OLIVE DRAB body whose chassis does not have handrails and has one solid coupler. Known to have been used as a component for the uncataloged Firestone Tire & Rubber Company set No. 19338 . Variation E: Unpainted BROWN body that uses a Die 4 and was issued uncataloged.
