I don't care for the place-setting approach to dinnerware - the 'one size fits all' concept is great for manufacturers, but not so great for consumers. The Gravy Boat, also in the 'Serving Lot' group, does not come with its underwater. Neither of these conditions impacts the beauty or functionality of the pieces, and the price for the 'Serving Lot' group has been adjusted accordingly. Mikasa has also created this dinnerware to be very practical and usable. It is microwave and dishwasher safe, its glazed finish cleans easily, and it is quite durable. Mikasa introduced French Countryside dinnerware in 1974, and now, 50 years later, this pattern has grown to more than 200 different pieces and is still in production.
