A BELLISIMO tabletop display of quintessential Italian style. Hand made in Ravello Italy on the Amalfi coast. This terracotta fish sculpture is definitely going to demand attention. Crafted using two clay-making methods: the body is first formed on a lathe and the whimsical details in the eyes, mouth, fins and tail are then modeled by hand and applied before the first firing. On close inspection you can see the artists stages of work when attaching those pieces. After the first firing, the fish was handpainted with scenes of AMALFI region, perhaps POSITANO. The front third and forehead of the fish depicts a BLUE EYE pattern, a famous Italian symbol to ward off evil curses. Items are shipped the next business day, after payment.
