This is very-old necklace was handmade during the early to mid-1900's in Kashmir along the Old Silk Road of Central Asia. It is old vintage tribal jewelry, not a new reproduction. More measurements and relevant info are listed at the end of this description. This style of necklace is a traditional one, having been worn in Kashmir for generations - especially in the romantic Lake Dal region. The distinctive, large pendant in the center has incised floral designs with 2 vibrant red-beads to ward off the evil-eye. Long charm-dangles hang below, swaying with movement. It was very sturdily made, and does not bend. Lots of bold 3-lobed spacer beads extend up the sides, with more charm-dangles hanging freely below. Ornate cone-ends gather the necklace together near the back. There are more-recent ties for adjusting the length. This necklace is in excellent, collectible condition, with a rich age-patina and very mild wear-patterns. Patina reflects the light when photographed, so items often look brighter in images than they really are. Perfect for collectors of old Kashmiri jewelry, as well as for festivals, dance, theater and making a dramatic statement.
