Description
Here is a great vintage alto saxophone made by the folks at Martin. The serial number is 78262 placing its manufacture year at about 1927. Matching number on neck and body. The instrument is in overall good condition. The silver plate is in excellent condition, no real wear on touch points. Gold wash inside the bell. There's a bit of tarnish here and there which is typical of an instrument of this age. Otherwise, there are a few small dents & pings namely on the elbow and one on the back between the pinky G# key & side Bb tone hole. Some of the key guard feet & braces have been re-soldered. Everything works smoothly and quietly, (even the rollers roll), and the instrument plays just fine top to bottom. That said, it's always a good idea to get an instrument fine tuned after shipment. Felted & corked as needed. The pads are new with plastic resonators, replaced & fitted less than a year ago. It has nice sweet but smoky/dark Martin sound. The included hard-shell case is from Conn and is in great condition. The 2 latches work fine, soft clean fuzzy interior and no stank odor. The usual little accessory box. It also comes with a vintage string neck strap and a cute champagne cork neck plug which helps the sax sit snugly inside the case without sliding around. No mouthpiece, cap or ligature is included. This auction is for the sax, neck strap, & case - just what you see in the photos. No other accessories are included.
