Vintage Radio Shack Satellite Alarm. All-metal enclosure, no plastics. I personally bought a few of these 30 years ago when they were discontinued by Radio Shack. These were sold when satellite dishes were 10ft-15ft across and cost $1500 to $3000 or more. The alarm circuitry is fairly complex and works by sending a continuous current through the coax cable. If the circuit was interrupted, i.e. disconnected, this unit will omit an 85db alarm. If the cable is disconnected and then reconnected, the alarm will still continue to sound. The only way the alarm can be silenced is by cycling the ON-OFF switch on the actual unit. These alarms have been, and are, used as theft alarms at trade shows. A coax cable is run through merchandise susceptible to theft and each end of the cable is then attached to the alarm. Anyone disconnecting the cable will set off the alarm. It will run for 240 hrs on a 9V battery, the alarm does not have to be connected to an AC source. These alarms have been stored in sealed Rubbermaid containers in a non-smoking environment. When taken out of the box and unwrapped, the unit still has a new-electronics smell. TERMS: U.S. sales only, no international sales.
