Here we have a stunning pair of two superb museum quality Tiffany & Co Makers sterling silver and cobalt glass swing handled footed sugar bowl bonbonniere examples. Hailing from the turn of the century, these fine circa 1907 Edwardian era models #16423-2498/ #16423-4861, respectively are superb period objects from renowned maker Tiffany, a leader in American high-end luxury decorative arts and design. These are stunning American heritage designs to be enjoyed and treasured for generations for their beauty and functionality. Crafted in heavy quality gauge precious metal and boasting wonderful pierced decoration designed with vertical bands and foliate trim beneath a beaded rim, and with reeded swing handle, this pair would be stunning for display or use. The two have the slightest scale variation, with one being slightly taller and wider by a fraction. One is approximately 4.8” in diameter, the other is approximately 4.75”, and the same tolerances for the height at 3.25” and 3” respectively, which is reflected in the style numbers stamped alongside the hallmarks to base. This scale nuance is not noticeable when displayed as a pair so I do not hesitate to present them as such but wished to make the distinction. Additionally, one handle is designed to lay atop the rim of the vessel and the other to swing down to the side of the vessel, again an intentional styling subtlety. The deep cobalt blue glass interior liners are heavy and in pristine condition. These magnanimous vessels may be used for sugar as the name indicates, as bonbonnieres filled with any manner of confections as well as being useful in endless capacity for dining/serving/entertaining purposes.
